The Hippo: NH’s largest Print Publication

Now the largest print audience in New Hampshire—more than 284,965 readers

Why we continue to attract large readership amid a steep print decline

It's a formula of carefully crafted content and availability on people's terms

That's our model of print made for the digital age and a great medium to reach a large engaged audience

Content

We choose local, unique and subjects people are passionate about. With information so freely available online, we knew that the content we created had to be different and not easily found online or in an app.

Make the content and ads easy to navigate and read. We’re natural rebels, and one of things we were rebelling against was clunky design and confusing pages.

Free

We chose to be free. Free created a huge readership advantage. No longer was there a barrier between the reader and our product. No coins to fish for. No lines to wait in.

Location

Being free opened up many locations where paid newspapers simply couldn’t be available. For example, Hippo is available in condos, restaurants and large employers. This availability makes a difference.
